You did the training. Why do they own the data?
Your watch data, set free.
Unstrap copies everything your Garmin watch records (activities, sleep, HRV, heart rate, stress and more) straight off the watch over USB, into an account only you can open.
Plug in. Pull out. Done.
1. Sign in
With your email. No password: we send you a link.
2. Add a watch
Click Add a watch. No serial number needed: it waits for your watch.
What you get
- Every file, untouched: the original
.fitfiles, byte for byte. - History the watch forgets: Garmin watches keep sleep and health data for about a day; Unstrap keeps every version.
- Your activities in one list, across watches, newest first. Download one file or everything as a ZIP.
- Read-only: Unstrap never writes to your watch.
Questions
Which watches work?
Garmin watches that connect over USB as MTP, roughly everything since 2018 (Fenix 5 Plus and later, Epix, Forerunner 245M and later, Venu). On the watch: Settings → System → USB Mode → MTP.
What do I need on my computer?
A Mac or Linux computer and uv. Windows isn't supported yet. How to sync has every step.
Does it change anything on my watch?
No. Unstrap only reads files. It never writes to or deletes from the watch.
Who can see my data? Can someone use my watch's serial number?
Only you. A serial number is never enough: every sync proves it has your watch's own files, and adding a watch to an account needs a sync from the same network as your browser. How security works, step by step.
Does this replace Garmin Connect?
No, they live side by side. Garmin Connect keeps working as before; Unstrap gives you your own copy of the raw files.
What if I sync before signing in?
That's fine. The data waits for 30 days. Sign in, click Add a watch and sync again: everything since the first sync becomes yours.
How do I delete my data?
Per watch (Release this watch) or everything at once on your Account page. Deletion is immediate and can't be undone.
What does it cost?
Nothing during the beta.
