How to sync your watch
Today you sync from a Mac or Linux computer. A plug-in box (Raspberry Pi) that syncs by itself is planned.
From a computer (macOS, Linux)
- Once: install uv:
curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh - Once, on the watch: Settings → System → USB Mode → MTP.
- First time only: sign in and click Add a watch (it then waits 10 minutes for your sync).
- Plug the watch in at the watch face (no buttons held) and run, on the same Wi-Fi as your browser:
The first sync takes about a minute; later ones about 10 seconds. Unplug when it says Done.uvx unstrap
If something goes wrong
- Run
uvx unstrap doctor: it checks every step and says what to fix. - Close Garmin Express and Android File Transfer: only one program can talk to the watch at a time.
- Linux: allow your user to open the watch with this udev rule, then replug:
echo 'SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="091e", MODE="0660", TAG+="uaccess"' | sudo tee /etc/udev/rules.d/69-unstrap-garmin.rules sudo udevadm control --reload - "Different network" on the Add a watch page: open that page on the same Wi-Fi as the computer (turn off VPN or private relay), then sync again.
Coming later
- A plug-in box: connect the watch, wait for the light, unplug.
- Windows.
